Who We Are

Your Biomass Renewable Energy & Waste Management Choice

Undertaking a biomass renewable energy or biomass waste management project in Canada and the Unites States can be a challenging and daunting prospect. There can be many types of biomass to consider each with different characteristics, volumes, location, availability and price. Technical options, site location, energy generation pathways, and potential co-products and by-products must be determined for any biomass project, as must regulatory and permitting requirements and stakeholder acceptance.

At Hallbar Consulting we know biomass; through our partnership with the Swedish Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering we work with you to maximise your biomass opportunities and overcome any biomass challenges you face.

About the Swedish Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering

The Swedish Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering (JTI) is a world-leading applied research and development institute. With over 50 employees focused on applied research and development, our staff has a tremendous history in undertaking and supporting a multitude of biomass studies, investigations, assessments and evaluations; ranging from simple small-scale to highly complex large-scale projects.

We have wide-ranging expertise in the field of biomass renewable energy and biomass waste management, having worked on the subject since the 1970s. In this work, we use a systemic perspective approach in which the economic, environmental and social aspects of projects are assessed to provide advice and enable sound decision-making for biomass renewable energy opportunities and biomass waste management challenges.

With the aid of systems analyses and decision support systems, and through work in our laboratory, simulations via computer models, and pilot and full-scale trials, we are able to develop, demonstrate and evaluate biomass renewable energy and biomass waste management technologies that create a good environment for animals and humans and cause minimal impact on land, air and water. We also offer access to a number of specially equipped facilities and laboratories.
